08/02/1974: Guy Manuel de Homem Christo born in Paris.
03/01/1975: Thomas Bangalter born in Paris.
1987: Thomas and Guy-Manuel meet at Lycée Carnot in Paris.
1992: Darlin?, an early project fronted by the duo, releases a maxi-single that is reviewed by a Melody Maker journalist, who describes the group?s sound as ?daft punk?.
1993: Thomas & Guy-Man meet UK duo Slam, founders of the Soma label, at a party, and give them their first house demo.
1994: Soma releases ALIVE, the official debut by Daft Punk.
1995: 12-inch single Da Funk/Rollin? & Scratchin? (Soma) creates a sensation on the underground techno scene before attracting wider music industry attention.
September 1996: Daft Punk signs with Virgin Music.
December 1996: Daft Punk teams up with Spike Jonze in New York to shoot "Da Funk", the first in a series of attention-grabbing videos made on the back of their HOMEWORK album by such cult producers as Jonze, Michel Gondry, Seb Janiak and Roman Coppola.
January 1997: Release of Daft Punk?s debut album, HOMEWORK, featuring the singles Around the World, Burning and Revolution 909 plus Da Funk. France finally latches on to techno, and the album sells 2.5 million copies worldwide. Daft Punk undertakes a long series of interviews but keep their faces concealed in photographs.
December 1997: Daft Punk performs at the Mayan Theatre, Los Angeles. A 60-date world tour follows. HOMEWORK is proclaimed Best Album of 1997 by many in the music press.
Thomas and Guy-Manuel found their own independent house labels, in 95 Roulé (Thomas), in 97 Crydamoure (Guy-Manuel).
Summer 1998: Daft Punk record two tracks with their underground deep-house idol, New Jersey?s Romanthony, in preparation for their second album.
March 1999: Stardust, a one-off line-up featuring Thomas, Benjamin Diamond and Alan Braxe, scores an international hit with Music Sounds Better With You (1.5 million copies sold).
September 1999: The 9/99 bug. Robots take control of the group and speak in place of Guy-Man and Thomas at interviews.
August 2000: Daft Punk meets Leiji Matsumoto, one the living gods of Japanese animation (creator of the Captain Harlock), to discuss ideas for videos for the new album.
November 2001: The new Daft Punk single, a Romanthony remix of One More Time, is played for the first time at the celebrated Paris nightclub, Respect is Burning, and becomes the duo?s biggest hit to date with 1.2 million copies sold.
13/03/01: Release of DISCOVERY, whose poppier, lighter sound marks a departure from the more orthodox house sound of the first album. Album sales reach 2.9 million but the robots still do the talking at interviews.
November 2003: release of the "Interstella 555" DVD, an anime/manga space opera directed by Leiji Matsumoto featuring the full DISCOVERY album as its soundtrack.

March 2005: Daft Punk?s third album release HUMAN AFTER ALL, the music is diverse and fresh whilst retaining their trademark Daft Punk sound, this time with a more spontaneous and direct quality to the recording.
April 2006: Release of MUSIQUE VOL 1 1993-2005, 10 years of cult hits & rarities anthology, also available on cd/dvd containing two brand new unseen videos & all the classics.
April 2006?: Daft Punk return to live performance with a series of special concerts.
